That head is the reason the commercial cleaning crews run K3 fleets at all: they are pulling real dirt out of real carpet dozens of hours a week, in buildings where the machine gets zero mercy. And that commercial life is where my knowledge of this machine comes from, because when those fleet machines come in, it is motors worked to death and ET1 circuit boards that gave up, not heads that stopped digging.         Dina I live with large animals, so pet hair is not a theory question for me. The K3 runs the same ET1 power head as our other SEBO canisters, and it does what it needs to do. The hair comes up out of the carpet and goes in the bag, and the brush roller pops out at the push of a button, so the hair that does wind the roller takes a minute to clear, not an afternoon. The best pet hair machine I know is the Riccar R30, and this sits below it but above just about everything else a pet owner is likely to be shopping.

      Dina The K3 does very well on bare floor. Fine dust, sand, and powders come up, and so does the big debris, cat litter, rice, dog food kibble. Just remember to turn the roller off. Leave it spinning and it will bat the big pieces around, so I do my rugs first, then switch the roller off for the hard floors and nothing scatters across the kitchen. There is a parquet style bare floor tool in the box if you prefer a dedicated tool. My favorite trick on the ET1 head is that it cleans right up next to the baseboards, no dust stripe around the edge of the room and no second pass with a crevice tool.

      Dina The K3 carries the standard SEBO hand tools, crevice, dusting brush, upholstery, and the tools themselves are fine. My issue is where they live. They are stored in three different places: the upholstery tool sits flush on top of the machine behind a button, the crevice tool slides into the back, and the dusting brush rides on the wand. It would have been better to have them all in one place, and I say that from watching people, especially the commercial cleaning crews who run these machines, simply not know what the machine carries. A lot of people do not know the upholstery tool exists at all, because it sits completely flush with the machine. The dusting brush falls off the wand, I have dropped my own wand and had it pop off, and if it falls off and you do not see it, it is gone and you are buying a new one. And the upholstery tool has one more quirk: on the K series it attaches through the crevice tool, so you are grabbing two tools and combining them for one job, which is a bit of a pain. Good tools, scattered and fumbly. Middle of the scale.

      Dina The K3's advantage is that it is a little more compact than the bigger canisters, so there is less machine to steer around a room. Past that, I am not a fan of the maneuverability because the hose is not centered on the machine. It attaches off to one side, so as you pull the canister along it does not track a straight path behind you, it likes to drift like a kid doing donuts in a walmart parking lot. You end up correcting for it, and it follows sort of crooked. The hose itself is also the narrow one, not the anti clog hose from the e3 and d4, so it is smaller all the way down, which makes it more susceptible to clogs. To be fair it is not hard to use. It turns, it follows, the compact body helps in tight rooms, and plenty of owners never complain about the drift, they will just feel it. So middle of the road, leaning towards not great.

Here is my favorite piece of evidence, and it rolls through our Arvada location regularly. We see machines built by SEBO's parent stamped "made in WEST Germany, Motor made in Englewood Colorado." Sit with that stamp for a second. West Germany stopped being a country in 1990. These machines outlived the country printed on their label, and they are still on the job. That is what a quarter century design philosophy looks like on an actual bench, not in a brochure. Will a SEBO need repairs along the way? At some point, sure. Twenty five years is a long road. On the flip side, for work that borders on maintenance, things like clearing clogs and swapping brush rollers, they are among the easiest machines we handle. Everything snaps apart, so brush roller and filter replacement is easy, and clogs come out without a fight. Where repairs get genuinely challenging is core component work like motor and circuit board replacement. Currently almost every unit they currently sell in the US is available with a ten year warranty, and a company that puts ten years on the box has little choice but to keep components flowing for years. Through the supply chain mess of the last decade they were barely touched, while we watched other brands go months or years missing critical parts. I think a lot of this culture comes from their European base, where consumer protection laws requiring repair components tend to be more robust. Whatever the root cause, the result at our counter is simple. When a SEBO needs a part, we get the part.
