Check If Belt Is Broken or Stretched

First, let's check whether the belt driving your brush roller is broken or stretched out. A stretched belt is the most common cause of a non-spinning brush.

Place the vacuum on a bench at waist height with the bottom facing up, or flip it over on the floor.
  1. Place the vacuum on a bench at waist height with the bottom facing up, or flip it over on the floor.
  2. Locate and unhook the two clips on either side of the base plate.
  3. Remove the base plate to expose the belt and brush roller.
  4. Look at the belt connecting the motor shaft to the brush roller.
