Sanitaire/Eureka Vacuum – Brush Not Spinning
Diagnose and fix a non-spinning brush on commercial-style Sanitaire, Eureka, Bissell Commercial, or similar vacuums with round drive belts
Step 1
Check If Belt Is Broken or Stretched
First, let's check whether the belt driving your brush roller is broken or stretched out. A stretched belt is the most common cause of a non-spinning brush.

- Place the vacuum on a bench at waist height with the bottom facing up, or flip it over on the floor.
- Locate and unhook the two clips on either side of the base plate.
- Remove the base plate to expose the belt and brush roller.
- Look at the belt connecting the motor shaft to the brush roller.
