        Dina The brush on the E3 adequately agitates and it gets the heavy debris up. I have tested this machine myself on sand and baking soda type grit in carpet, the stuff that works down into the pile where cheap vacuums never reach. It agitated it, bounced it around, and sucked it all up. The reason it beats the machines most people compare it against comes down to versatility. You can adjust this machine to work on the type of carpet you have, set it right for the pile in the room you are cleaning. Your big box department store vacuum cleaners often do not give you that adjustment, so they are only ever set right for one kind of carpet and wrong for the rest. Set the E3 to your carpet and it digs. On a one to five where the best carpet machine I know sits at five and the worst at one, I put the E3 at 4.5. It is right up against the best deep cleaners I have seen, and the everyday machines it competes with are not close. If your carpet actually gets dirty, animals, kids, traffic, this machine pulls out what the last vacuum left behind.

        Dina I live with large animals, so pet hair is not a theory question for me. The E3 is fantastic at getting pet hair out of carpet. I have personally tested it on exactly that, and it does what it needs to do. The hair goes in the bag, and with the brush roller popping out at the push of a button, the hair that does wind the roller takes a minute to clear, not an afternoon. Let me place it for you, because a score means more with the field around it. The best pet hair machine I know of, period, is the Riccar R30. The worst I have seen are a couple Bissell models. The E3 sits right below the R30, which means it is above just about everything else a pet owner is likely to be shopping. One tip for the whole pet hair picture: the hair on your upholstery and your stairs is a job for the turbo brush, and that one is a separate purchase with this machine. For the carpet itself, what comes in the box handles it. If you have animals and carpet, this is one of the few machines I can hand you knowing the hair will actually end up in the bag.

      Dina On bare floor the E3 picks up the fine stuff, sand and powders, and it picks up the large debris, cat litter, rice, dog food kibble. It will kick that big debris around if you leave the brush roller turned on, so you make one adjustment. When I clean bare floor, I do my area rugs first, then switch the brush roller off and go over the bare floor with the roller off. That is it, no scattered kibble across the kitchen. If you would rather use a dedicated tool, you can install the parquet style bare floor tool, and one of those comes with the machine. My favorite part of the ET1 power head is that it gets right up next to baseboards. I do not think I have ever seen another vacuum cleaner do that. No streak of dust left around the edge of the room, no going back over the borders with a crevice tool. If somebody came in with no wall to wall carpet at all, just bare floor and throw rugs through the whole house, would I recommend this machine? Absolutely.

      Dina The E3 comes with a crevice tool, a dusting brush, an upholstery tool, and a bare floor tool. The two I see people actually reach for are the crevice tool and the dusting brush, but I think all of the tools work very well with this machine. There is no gimmick in the set, no pet tool that looks good on the box and does nothing on the couch. And every one of them stores on the machine. Even the bare floor tool has its own little place on the back, so nothing ends up lost in a closet, which is where vacuum tools usually go to die. What keeps this from a five is what is not in the box. The most popular tool customers want, the turbo brush, does not come with the initial purchase. You buy it individually, or there is a separate toolkit you can purchase. Customers like that turbo brush for their upholstery and their stairs, and they use it to clean pet hair off those, so it is not a luxury item in a pet house. It is the one tool I wish came standard. So the toolset you get works, stays with the machine, and does its job. The toolset you might need most in an animal home costs extra.

      Dina Weight is different for everybody, but for me the E3 is not heavy. It is easy to push over carpet, easy to get up and down stairs, and it follows you around. You do have to learn how to maneuver a canister vacuum. It can get stuck up against a wall or hang up when you turn a corner, but you just pull it behind you and it follows. The power head is the best part. The ET1 swivels, gets right up against edges, and lays flat so you can get under beds and tables. It gets very low under there, with about seven feet of reach, give or take. Now the honest part. The neck where the hose attaches to the machine is stationary. It does not swivel or rotate. So when you are pulling the machine behind you it can swerve all over, and the tip rate is higher on this one than I would like. You learn to work with it, but it is the one place the design fights you. The cord is also on the short side, roughly a 25 to 28 foot cord, and in my home that means unplugging at least twice to do the whole house. Not terrible, but not great either. Put it against other machines in its size and class and I still say it runs on the easy end to use.

It is a bagged, high filtration machine, and in my environment, with large animals and vacuuming roughly twice a week, I change my bag about every 5 weeks. Changing it is nothing. You pop open the lid and pull the bag out. We have long hair in my house, and the brush roller is very, very easy to clean because there is a button you push to pull the whole roller out. Clean it, drop it back in, done. No screwdriver, no scissors through a slot. There are two filters, a pre filter and an S Class filter, and both are very easy to replace. SEBO requires filter replacement around every two years, and the filter package for this model is mid priced. For Dyson I suggest replacing filters at least yearly at about the same cost. So the machine that looks more expensive to maintain is actually about the same, and the bags keep all that dirt sealed instead of dumping a dust cloud over your trash can. Bag, roller, two filters. That is literally the maintenance. It is the easiest machine to take care of that I can think of.

So with the E three, you're going to treat it just like you would any other canister vacuum. You're going to have one hand control. The wand and the power head and the other hand is going to drag the vacuum cleaner along with you have it right by your hip, kind of like a lost puppy. So you turn it on and you just vacuum. No Clog Hose

And the other difference between these two is that the E3 has C bows, no clog hose. So the way this hose works, it's larger down here towards the base of the machine. It's smaller up here. We're going to pick up something that you shouldn't. It's going to cause a destruction. The idea, and it works really well, is that when something comes in here, you can just shake the hose. And because the hose gets larger as it goes down, the clog will come out.
