Use: Automatic buttonholes, with or without cording, up to 30 mm long. A sensor on the foot measures the buttonhole length and relays it to the machine, so you can repeat identical buttonholes until you change the size. That makes it the go to for button plackets on garments and home furnishings. Pair it with the buttonhole compensation plate (leveler), the buttonhole cutter and the button sew on foot. On some models the length is set by the sensor and on others manually.
It isn’t Dual Feed dependent and works on both 5.5 mm and 9 mm machines, so the fit list is much broader than the D feet. Some retailer copy, including Sewing Parts Online, says 5.5 mm only, but Bernina’s own page lists both.
