Hide-A-Hose was founded in 1999 in Monroe, Washington by father-and-son team Gary and Rod Drivstuen. Gary's design — inspired by the pneumatic tube system at a bank drive-thru — uses the suction of an existing central vacuum unit to retract a long flexible hose into the wall tubing, eliminating the need to drag and store a separate hose.

The Hide-A-Hose system is now installed through a dealer network across the United States, Canada, and overseas, and is compatible with most major brands of central vacuum power units. The product line includes Hide-A-Hose inlet valves, retractable hoses in 30, 40, and 50-foot lengths, hose socks, power-nozzle accessories, and replacement gaskets and seals — all sold and serviced through the central vac specialist channel.
