Sebo was founded in 1978 in Velbert, Germany by two engineers who set out to build an upright vacuum tough enough for professional cleaning crews. Their first product, the Sebo 350, introduced features that became standard on commercial uprights — integrated hose, direct-drive toothed belts, electrostatic micro filters — and the company is widely credited with defining the template for the modern commercial upright.

Sebo is still based in Velbert and still manufactures every machine in Germany. The lineup centers on the Automatic X and Felix upright series and the Airbelt canister family, all built around a shared parts ecosystem of bags, belts, brush rolls, filters, hoses, and electronic boards. Sebo machines are sold through specialty dealers, and replacement parts and serviceability are a deliberate part of the brand's value proposition.
