ProTeam was founded in 1987 in Boise, Idaho by Larry Shideler, a commercial cleaning contractor who had built a prototype lightweight backpack vacuum in his garage four years earlier. The QuarterVac was the company's first product, and ProTeam went on to define the commercial backpack vacuum category and to coin the "Cleaning for Health" approach that paired ergonomic design with HEPA filtration.
ProTeam was acquired by Emerson Electric in 2009 and continues to operate from Boise. The lineup is centered on backpack vacuums — Super Coach Pro, Super Halfvac Pro, GoFree Flex Pro cordless — and extends into commercial uprights, canisters, and wet/dry vacs aimed at janitorial, hospitality, education, and healthcare environments. Replacement filters (HEPA, intercept micro, dome), motors, and harness components are a steady aftermarket given the brand's professional install base.
