Oreck — Schematics

Oreck was founded in 1963 by David Oreck in New Orleans, Louisiana, originally to supply a lightweight upright vacuum to the American hotel industry — housekeeping staff needed something they could push down a long hallway without strain. Oreck sold direct to hotels for the first 14 years before opening the line to consumers in 1977 with the famous "if you can lift a phone book, you can lift an Oreck" television campaign.

The signature Oreck XL upright — light, narrow, bag-style — became one of the most recognizable vacuums in the United States. Now part of TTI Floor Care, Oreck continues to focus on lightweight, dealer-serviced uprights along with air purifiers and steam cleaners. Replacement bags, belts, and brush rolls for the Oreck XL series remain in steady demand across the parts aftermarket.
