Koblenz was founded on July 15, 1959 as a Mexican manufacturer of voltage regulators, motors, and pumps, and added vacuum cleaners and shampoo polishers to its product line in the 1960s. The first Koblenz vacuum, an all-metal single-motor unit, appeared in 1961, and Koblenz introduced one of the first widely available residential rug shampoo and floor polisher lines in 1968.

Today Koblenz exports floor care products — wet/dry shop vacuums, single-disc floor polishers and burnishers, hard-floor scrubbers, and residential and commercial uprights — to more than 25 countries. Replacement pads, brushes, bags, filters, hoses, and motor parts for the long Koblenz catalog (P-series polishers, WD-series shop vacs, U-series uprights) are widely stocked through floor care distributors.
