Kenmore is the long-running house brand of Sears, with the first Kenmore-branded vacuum cleaner introduced in 1932. For most of the 20th century Kenmore vacuums — Power-Mate canisters, Progressive uprights, the Magicord and Whispertone series — were manufactured for Sears by Panasonic, and the partnership produced one of the largest installed vacuum bases in the United States. Whirlpool was the long-time OEM for many other Kenmore appliance lines under a partnership that ran for nearly a century before ending in 2017.

The Kenmore brand was acquired by Transformco after the 2018 Sears Holdings bankruptcy and remains in production today, with Cleva North America taking over much of the vacuum manufacturing after Panasonic exited the Western consumer floor-care market. Kenmore vacuums are now sold through Amazon, Lowe's, and other major retailers. The decades-long Sears install base means demand for replacement Type C, U, O, and Q bags, motor and exhaust filters, belts, brush rolls, hoses, and Power-Mate power nozzles remains heavy across the aftermarket.
