Elna is a Swiss sewing machine brand founded in 1934 in Geneva by Spanish engineer Ramón Casas Robert, who introduced the first portable electric sewing machine — a green machine called the Elna 1 — in 1940. The Elna Supermatic of 1952 was the first sewing machine with embroidery cams, helping define the modern domestic sewing machine.

Elna is now part of the Janome Group of Japan and continues to produce a full lineup of mechanical sewing machines, computerized sewing and embroidery machines, sergers, and presses. Generations of Elnas — from the early Elna 1, 2, 3, and Lotus through the modern eXcellence and Elnita lines — share a parts and accessory ecosystem that remains active for restoration and routine maintenance.
