Beam Industries was founded in 1957 by Robert Sampson in Webster City, Iowa, in a building that had previously housed a washing machine factory. Early units were also branded Manorvac, and Beam went on to become one of the largest manufacturers of central vacuum systems in the world. AB Electrolux acquired Beam in 1987, and the brand operated for years as Beam by Electrolux Central Vacuum Systems.
In 2018 Beam was sold to Canadian central vacuum manufacturer Nuera Air. The Beam product line — Serenity, SC, Alliance, Classic, and Solaire-series power units, plus PowerEdge and tube-and-hose accessories — remains in service in tens of thousands of homes across North America. Replacement bags, filters, hoses, motors, and inlet valves for the long Beam model history are stocked throughout the central vac aftermarket.
