Learn to Sew – Microwave Bowl Cozy

This project is just in time for the holiday leftovers and a great gift idea. This bowl cozy is designed to keep your hands safe from hot microwave bowls. The finished project is approximately 10”x10”. We will discuss options for modifying the size.
All supplies must be 100% cotton, no metallic thread/fabric and no polyester, as the project is designed to be used in the microwave.
Printed or digital be provided with the class.
Skill Level: This is a BEGINNER level sewing class, so do not worry if you are just starting. You need to know basics and know how to operate your machine. If you don’t know, the “Driver’s Ed” class is a great place to start.
Items needed:
- Sewing Machine that does a straight stitch.
- Walking foot and general-purpose foot
- Two (2) fat quarters, matching or coordinating fabric 100% Cotton
- 100% cotton Batting: ½ yard or two 10” squares
- 100% cotton sewing thread and 2 bobbins filled. You can look for mercerized cotton (not cotton wrapped polyester)
- Sewing tools (machine needles, scissors, Fabric Marker, clips or pins, stiletto or purple thang, seam ripper)
